How to Live The Life of A Highly Sensitive Person: Therapies Explored

Your senses are on high alert all the time, have you ever felt like that yoga therapy benefits? Like a bug addicted to light? A highly sensitive person (HSP) this sounds a lot like.

It’s not strictly driven by responding to loud lights or sounds but the same person in such scenarios heightened feeling awareness in sensing signals around them plus societal cues and even implied normative rules is HSP as well. So, how do they cope?

For HSPs to manage intense emotions, therapists advise cognitive-behavioral techniques. Giving your mind a nudge in a better direction. Picture confidently going through social situations now in place of previously panicking.

You also rely on mindfulness practices. This can be meditating, slow breathing or just stopping to listen to the rustling of the leaves. They don’t term it’s “mindful” for nothing. One useful technique vicariously makes you visualize yourself as an oak tree with tranquility rooted down firmly.

Another great height of its therapeutic benefits have to do with artistic expression. Think art, music or words on a page. Such avenues where emotions run amuck offer less threat of blockage. After one of my friend painted her “feelings chaos”, she discovered she ended up creating a masterpiece that very well mirrored her inner world.

You could get slight relief from homemade remedies such as herbal teas and essential oils. Chamomile tea has calming attributes that are old news but too good to be true. Lavender oil on the other hand? A single whiff could change a mess to rest.

Online or in-person support groups help connect you with another on the same road. Picture a roomful of people nodding, ready to receive your “weird quirks” – minus warnings of being criticized. It’s finding out your tribe somewhere you don’t need to fake it anymore.

Lastly.. Remember, it’s okay to sometimes sneak under the proverbial comforter or look at the world with rose-colored glasses. Because in the end, every form of balance is key plus sensitivity is nothing but fragile. And yes, it may feel like a rollercoaster but hey, rollercoasters can be fun, surprising and above all rewarding.
